Cross-cultural dialogue

The cultural ties between Russia and Italy date back to the 15th century when Italian Renaissance architects built several Moscow Kremlin Cathedrals. In their turn, the Spanish and Russian cultures have often been compared as standing on the western and eastern fringes of European civilization. And now, 2011 is the Russia-Italy and Russia-Spain cross-year. What are we to expect from it and why are these two events being held together? Here’s Russia’s Culture Minister Aleksandr Avdeev.
