Abkhazia, a de facto independent Caucasian country, was finally recognized by Russia last August, but remains under effective diplomatic blockade imposed by the major Western powers. The first signs of diplomatic breakthrough came from the Latin American countries Nicaragua and Venezuela. Will other countries around the globe follow their example?
