Haspel CIA nomination ‘shameful’, says congressman

The Senate Intelligence Committee has voted 10-5 to recommend Gina Haspel as CIA Director. Haspel is likely to be confirmed by the senate within a week and will become the first woman to head the CIA. Haspel has faced criticism for running a black site in Thailand in 2002 where prisoners were tortured including waterboarding. Deal or No Deal? Dakota Access Settlement offered

A security company accused of operating without a license in North Dakota has offered a settlement to pay fines – as long as it does not have to admit to any wrongdoing. The private company, Tiger-swan, is seeking the settlement for accusations it violated the rights of protestors during demonstrations at the Dakota Access Pipeline.
