American troops flee Syrian town after threats from US-backed rebels
US Special Forces commandos were forced to withdraw from the town of al-Rai on Syria’s border with Turkey after threats from the Free Syrian Army (FSA), a moderate US-backed rebel group. RT correspondent Lizzie Phelan has the story.

Maternal death rates in Texas soar
In Texas, the rate of women dying from pregnancy-related causes has doubled in recent years. The causes of death range from cardiac events and hypertension to suicide and drug overdose. To discuss, this issue Dr. George Saade, a professor of women and children’s services at the University of Texas, joins RT America’s Manila Chan and says maternal mortality rates are “going up every year, all over the United States, not just in Texas.”
