St. Petersburg. Part 2

Staying in the “Venice of the North” Martyn Andrews and his crew this week look at the city’s canals, water transport and the Neva River. Speed boats, canal tours and the history behind Peter the Great’s spectacular vision to create his “Window to the West”. From a swampy, scarcely populated region we look at how the area became a fine European capital. We tour the canals, visit the poetic corners of the city, visit a military ship and stay up late to witness one of the symbols of the city – the famous open bridges.
