‘China would rather buy US infrastructure than oppose it militarily’

China sees itself as a partner and investor rather than an opponent on a theater of war, Wu Jianmin, former Chinese Ambassador to France and Netherlands, told RT. Beijing and Washington have strong common interests outweighing all differences.

Wu shared with RT’s Sophie Shevardnadze his personal impression from dealing with China’s new leader Xi Jinping, explained why Beijing opposes foreign meddling in the civil war in Syria and explained how China’s possession of US foreign debt could benefit both countries if the assets are used to modernize America’s aging infrastructure.

He also spoke about Chinese culture and how it is becoming more recognized in the Western world thanks to grassroots interactions.
