Learning from Podemos, Demonizing world leaders and the fate of fire fighters (E203)

Afshin Rattansi goes underground with Podemos and examines what Britain can learn from Spain’s leading anti-austerity party. Anthony James, author of Orwell’s Faded Lion: The Moral Atmosphere of Britain 1945-2015, talks about the importance to successive British governments of demonizing world leaders to sway public opinion and serve internal interests. We look at what is in Britain’s air that could be killing up to 60,000 people a year and why the government is raising the age of retirement for fire fighters. And, we examine the connection between former CIA director, General Petraeus and one of Britain’s most infamous generals, a torturer in Kenya who is now accused of murder.
