Return to Tarawa. Part 1
65 years on, WWII hero Leon Cooper returns to Tarawa, an islet in the Pacific. It’s the site of the bloodiest war in marine history. Thousands of soldiers died there in a fierce gun battle on the Red Beach in 1943.
The remains of more than 300 soldiers lie buried in unmarked graves, waiting to return home. And so does the unspecified amount of live ammunition.
Exasperated by the “callous indifference” of the US administration, the 89-year-old hero of six WWII battles decides to document his struggle. Celebrated actor Ed Harris lends his voice talent to Return to Tarawa, the emotional crusade of Leon Cooper.
A Steven C Barber film for Vanilla Fire Production.
