Peoples of Russia: the Telengits (times 01.30, 09.30, 17.30)
The Altai is one of Russia's highest-lying regions and a place where many cultures mix. The Telengits are one of the most ancient peoples inhabiting the Mountains of Altai. They came to the Altay region more than 5,000 years ago but settled down only 200 years ago. For centuries this nomadic people was valued as excellent warriors. The next instalment of the Peoples of Russia documentary series is dedicated to the ancient culture of Telengits - their traditions and customs, which are carefully preserved in their modern everyday life.
Women's Day (times 05.30, 13.30, 21.30)
Every year on the 8th of March International Women's Day is celebrated in Russia. Started as a political event in 1911, the holiday blended the culture of Russia and some countries of the former Soviet republics. These days the holiday has lost its political flavour, and has became simply an occasion for men to express their sympathy and love to the women around them. How is this spring holiday prepared for and celebrated? Find out in the Women's day documentary.
