Peoples of Russia: The Mountain Jews

For centuries, the Caucasus has harbored a multitude of people, languages and customs. Nalchik is the capital of the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria in the Northern Caucasus and home town for the Mountain Jews. They are one of Russia’s most enigmatic peoples. Their culture is made from a mixture of Jewish and Caucasian elements and filled with rituals.
