For centuries, the Caucasus has harbored a multitude of people, languages and customs. Nalchik is the capital of the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria in the Northern Caucasus and home town for the Mountain Jews. They are one of Russia’s most enigmatic peoples. Their culture is made from a mixture of Jewish and Caucasian elements and filled with rituals. You’ll figure out their life and ancient customs in the next installment of “Peoples of Russia” documentary series.

He has been working at a local foundry for 27 years now. Every day he comes to work at 7 in the morning, puts on his protective suit and then the magic starts. He’s melting metal and forming it.
