For centuries, the Caucasus has harbored a multitude of people, languages and customs. Nalchik is the capital of the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria in the Northern Caucasus and home town for the Mountain Jews. They are one of Russia’s most enigmatic peoples. Their culture is made from a mixture of Jewish and Caucasian elements and filled with rituals. He has been working at a local foundry for 27 years now. Every day he comes to work at 7 in the morning, puts on his protective suit and then the magic starts. He’s melting metal and forming it.
