History alive: Borodino

The battle of Borodino was one of the largest and bloodiest battles of the Napoleonic wars, involving more than 250,000 soldiers from theRussian and French sides, with at least 70,000 casualties. It took place near the village of Borodino, 140 kilometres to the west of Moscow. Every year in the first week of autumn history buffs pay tribute to the memory of the heroes who perished and re-enact the events of 1812 in detail. Find out how these re-enactments are prepared in Living history: Borodino.
