Haiti: chronicles of inferno

The Republic of Haiti is a Caribbean country. It was the first independent nation in Latin America and the first black-led republic in the world. Despite these facts, Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.

On January 12, 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti and devastated the capital city of Port-au-Prince. Reportedly, more than 150,000 people were killed and many buildings were destroyed and damaged in the quake. RT correspondent Aleksandr Luchaninov visited Haiti after the tragedy and here is his report.
