Battle for history

In January 2010 Ukranian’s then-President Viktor Yushchenko posthumously awarded a World War II-era nationalist leader Stepan Bandera with the title “Hero of Ukraine”. But many directly associate Bandera with wartime ethnic cleansing. In December 2009, in the Georgian town of Kutaisi, a monument commemorating the Georgians who gave their lives during the Second World War was blown up, despite vigorous protests by war veterans. So who is right and who is wrong and when this battle for history will end?
