Dirty cops, Bohemian Grove, jailing journalists & Fukushima fallout
Abby Martin goes over the story of Pamela Held, a Long Island resident who after being pulled over by the NYPD had lewd photographs copied from her phone and sent to the officer’s private device. Then the annual secretive gathering of the rich and powerful called Bohemian Grove, with Peter Phillips, president of the Media Freedom Foundation discussing what the summit is about and what can be expected this year. Next, two news stories overshadowed by the corporate media’s fixation on the royal baby, including the case of NYT journalist James Risen facing jail time for refusing to testify in the criminal case of a CIA leaker, as well as the admission by TEPCO that that radiation has been continuously leaking from the Fukushima nuclear facility since the 2011 earthquake. Finally, an interview with Ai-Jen Poo, director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance, on the difficulties domestic workers face in the US, including exploitation and in many cases indentured servitude.
