UK’s high court puts the brakes on Brexit

The UK’s high court has thrown a monkey wrench into Theresa May’s Brexit plans, saying parliament must approve Britain’s exit from the EU before the prime minister can proceed. Ameera David and Edward Harrison have the details. Then, Bianca Facchinei takes a look at Venezuela’s dwindling central bank holdings, which are threatening a country already in a precarious position. After that, Lizzie Phelan joins from Berlin with the latest on the German-Chinese trade spat over advanced technologies and national security.

Following the break, Steve Hanke, professor of economics at Johns Hopkins University, tells Ameera about what he sees ahead for the largest economies in Africa, including South Africa and Egypt. And finally, in The Big Deal, Edward breaks down China’s expansion into the worldwide auto market, as the country scoops up carmakers and expands manufacturing.
