Karadzic to stop boycotting his trial

Published 2 Nov, 2009 12:00 | Updated 27 Dec, 2009 17:44

Radovan Karadzic will appear in court on Tuesday to try to find a way to end his boycott of the war crimes trial, according to his lawyers.

The Bosnian Serb leader, who says he needs more time to prepare, insists the tribunal is in a rush to convict him.

The rules of the court say hearings cannot go ahead if the accused or their lawyers are not present.

In Serbia, where Karadzic remains popular, many think the government should never have given him up.
