Marina Portnaya

Based in Miami, Marina reports on a wide range of political, financial and policy-oriented issues ranging from America’s thawing relations with Cuba and the Puerto Rico debt crises to US voting rights and the Zika outbreak. Previously Marina reported on stories centered on topics pertaining to surveillance & privacy, foreign policy, US-Russia relations and the UN’s role in response to the Arab Spring uprisings, the unfolding Syrian Crisis and Kosovo’s Independence. Marina was the first RT reporter to break the story on the 2013 Hunger Strike at Guantanamo Bay Prison, kicking off the network’s months-long, team-coverage which earned RT an Emmy nomination. She graduated New York University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications & Mass Media.
