Erdogan: US should look at its own actions if it wants return of jailed pastor

Washington should take a look at its own actions if it wants the release of jailed American Protestant pastor Andrew Brunson, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said in an interview with Turkish broadcaster NTV. “If you want Brunson, take a look at your own steps,” Erdogan said, apparently addressing the US. Brunson, who had worked as a Protestant pastor in the city of Izmir, was detained by Turkish authorities back in October 2016. On April 16, a Turkish court ruled to keep him in custody, deeming him to be a flight risk. If convicted, Brunson may face up to 35 years in prison.
