China launches Long March 6 rocket carrying 3 Jilin-1 commercial satellites

China on Tuesday launched a Long March 6 light-lift rocket carrying three Jilin-1 commercial Earth observation satellites, gbtimes reports. The launch took place at 04:50 GMT at the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center. The three high-resolution video satellites – Lingqiao 04, 05 and 06 – were sent into a highly-inclined orbit at an altitude of 535km. The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) confirmed the successful launch. This is China’s 13th orbital launch of 2017 and the 255th Long March launch overall. The Long March 6 was launched for the second time. It had its maiden flight in September 2015, and was developed alongside the medium and heavy-lift Long March 7 and 5 launch vehicles.
