Tehran demands release of Iranians detained in Iraq

An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman has condemned an attack by U.S.-led forces against Iran's consulate building in Iraq and called for the immediate release of five men held in the raid.

Mohammad Ali Hosseini said that the American forces in Iraq should pay compensation for the damage they have caused to the consulate.

The five Iranians were detained by U.S.-led forces on Thursday and stand accused of supporting insurgents in Iraq.

Hosseini said current U.S. strategy won't help security and stability in the region.
