Dynamo youths celebrate 75th birthday

Dynamo Moscow is one of Russia’s most successful sport societies, both during the period of the Soviet Union and today. On Sunday, December 20, it celebrated its 75th anniversary.

The event, which featured over twenty sports including football, hockey and wrestling, involved thousands of youngsters from Moscow.

Since its inception in 1923, athletes from Dynamo have managed to win 328 Olympic gold medals.

The club's main symbol is the legendary Lev Yashin, who claimed the Golden Ball Award in 1963. Years later he was officially recognized by FIFA as the greatest goalkeeper of the twentieth century.

Several up and coming athletes shared their views of Dynamo with RT.

“I want to play for Dynamo. I love this club!” told one. “I'm going to win loads of medals for the club and for myself!” boasted another. “To us, Dynamo is the best club in the world! Our plan? To become Olympic champions!”

Considering the club's illustrious history, it is likely several more potential Yashins will cut their teeth at Dynamo Moscow for years to come.
