Britain names new Russia Ambassador

Britain next Ambassador to Russia will be Anne Pringle. Her appointment is reportedly part of the usual rotation and is not linked with current tensions with Russia.

Pringle has been the Director of Strategy and Information at the UK Foreign Office for the past three years, though she previously worked in Moscow between 1980 and 1983.

The current ambassador Anthony Brenton is leaving after four turbulent years in office.

Some Russian and British media say the replacement should be seen as a sign of attempts to warm relations.
