5 people with disabilities who inspired the world

5 people with disabilities who inspired the world

These incredible people have shown the world nothing is impossible. They prove that what at first may seem to be a disadvantage is in fact no barrier to making something extraordinary of their lives and inspiring millions along the way.

Eighteen-year-old Qian Hongyan form China lost both her legs at the age of just four, when she was hit by a bus while crossing the street. This hasn’t stopped the strong spirited girl from becoming a champion swimmer.

Jessica Cox had the distinction of becoming the world’s first licensed pilot. Over the years, she has become a true role model for those looking to overcome adversity, as she has managed to master more skills than a number of abled bodied people. She can fly a plane, she can drive, she has a black belt in Taekwondo, she is a certified scuba diver… and can remove her contact lenses – with her feet.

Chen Xingyin may not speak to millions, but his efforts are more than appreciated at home. Despite having no arms, he is able to take care of his 91 year-old mother, while he manages to feed her by holding a spoon with his mouth.

Latvian singer and model, Viktoria Modesta has looked to show people through her art that there is beauty in unconventional forms. "I upgraded my opportunities, my comfort and my body. It was really empowering," she mentioned about losing her lower leg.
