Thousands of protesters took to the streets of the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires on Wednesday to demand justice for deceased activist Santiago Maldonado. Demonstrators held photos of Maldonado and hundreds of people played drums as they marched towards the Plaza de Mayo. Sergio Moldonado – brother of the deceased activist – made a speech at the end of the event, calling for the truth of what happened to his brother to be revealed. Santiago Maldonado went missing on August 1 after being arrested during a demonstration supporting Argentina’s Indigenous Mapuche community. After missing for 30 days, his body was found in Chubut River in mid-October.
