Fireworks light up Moscow skies ahead of World Festival of Youth & Students

A spectacular fireworks display kicked off at Moscow’s Sparrow Hills on Saturday ahead of the opening ceremony of the World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS). More than 20,000 participants aged 18-35 from 180 states are taking part in the event which kicks off on October 15 and is set to conclude on October 22 in Sochi. The first WFYS took place in 1947 in Prague, which was then the capital of Czechoslovakia, with the slogan ‘Youth for Peace!’
