Thousands attended a ceremony to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Communist revolutionary Ernesto Che Guevara's death at the Ernesto Guevara Sculptural Complex in Santa Clara on Sunday. In attendance were family and friends of Guevara, including Cuban President Raul Castro, who laid a white rose on his tomb. Some participants were dressed in T-shirts with the portrait of Guevara, and many waved cards depicting his face. There were also school children in attendance at the event. Ernesto Che Guevara was executed by soldiers 50 years ago in Bolivia, at the age of 39.
