Clashes between police and locals flared up in the capital of Colombia, Bogota, during a rally against social and infrastructure inequality on Wednesday. Protesters threw objects at police officers who responded with water cannons and stun grenades. The Dona Juana Landfill in Bogota receives reportedly around 6,000 tons of waste daily. Local residents have staged various protests demanding the landfill's shutdown as they claim it results in diseases as well as the proliferation of flies and rats in the area.
