Employees of the Canadian company Eldorado Gold took to the streets of Athens on Thursday to protest potential layoffs. Earlier this month the company announced its intention to suspend investments in gold mines in Greece for not receiving necessary licenses by September 22. Miners marched from the Environment Ministry toward Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' residence, demanding that the government ensure the company’s activity in the country. Later in the day, Eldorado Gold CEO George Burns stated that they have reached "constructive dialogue" with the local authorities.
