Thousands of counter-protesters gathered at Boston Common Park to oppose a 'Free Speech' rally on Saturday. Counter-protesters set a Confederate flag on fire and chanted ‘Unite Against White Supremacy’ and ‘Black lives matter! F**k the police.’ Some 50 people arrived for the 'Free Speech' rally organised on the common which quickly ended as police escorted the rally-goers away. Police was on high alert following the violence in Charlottesville, they reportedly arrested several people. While the 'Free Speech' rally organisers claimed to have no relationship to the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, counter-protesters were denouncing them as attempting to spread similar views.
