Thousands of people held a march in the streets of Polish capital Warsaw on Tuesday, to honor the 73rd anniversary of the 'Warsaw Uprising'. At 5pm local time sirens sounded across the city for two minutes, marking the hour that the fighting against the Nazi occupying power broke out on August 1, 1944. The revolt and the following crackdown, which lasted for 63 days, is estimated to have claimed the lives of 200,000 people, mostly civilians.
