Hundreds of people protested in Quezon City, the Philippines, on Sunday to demand the lifting of martial law on Mindanao island, after Congress voted to extend it. Martial law was imposed after clashes between insurgents from the Maute group and government forces escalated. The protesters burned the portraits of military officials and threw balloons with red dye at police officers outside the House of Representatives in Quezon City.
