Several protesters injured as riot police disperse banned rally in Morocco

Riot police clashed with protesters in the northern city Moroccan city of Al-Hoceima Thursday, during a mass rally organized by residents against government neglect and marginalization. Activists called on local authorities to release some members of the popular Hirak movement, including its famous leader Nasser Zefzafi. The authorities  banned the demonstration and had taken additional security measures. Police reportedly used tear gas and heavy bombs in an attempt to disperse the crowd. Several protesters reportedly sustained heavy injuries and some of the demonstrators could be seen detained.
