A large-scale military parade was held in Minsk to celebrate Belarusian Independence Day on Monday. More than 220 pieces of military hardware paraded in front of hundreds of viewers, with T-72B tanks, BMP-2 infantry combat vehicles, BTR-80 armored personnel carriers, Caiman armored vehicles, and 2S12 Sani heavy mortar systems participating in the festivities. At least 58 airplanes and helicopters flew over Minsk. In a somewhat unusual turn, agricultural equipment and furniture also took part in the parade. Tractors and harvesters were followed by trucks towing sofas and couches along the Belarusian capital’s streets.
