Activists, many of them children, marched to the Maxim’s Palace in Hong Kong, urging the luxury restaurant to stop sales of shark fin soup. Dozens of people donned provocative fin less shark costumes and waved placards while visitors of the eatery were dining. The protest was organized by the conservation group WildAid, an environmental group that focuses on reducing the demand for wildlife products. Maxim’s Palace denied all allegations in an email statement claiming that it halved the volume of shark fin sales over the last 7 years, and that it sources fins only from a species classified as low risk.
