On Tuesday, May 16, hundreds of public sector workers took to the streets of the Colombian capital, Bogota, demanding better working conditions. Police used tear gas and water cannons against rioting protesters. The demonstration was led by Colombia’s main trade unions toward the central Plaza de Bolivar, near the House of Narino (Casa de Nariño), the official residence and principal office of Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos.
