Hundreds of migrants returned to Libya after attempt to cross Mediterranean

An Italian coastguard vessel with more than 300 people moored at the Port of Tripoli after Italian officers found a wooden boat with hundreds of migrants in international waters, towing the boat back to the Libyan coast.

The total number of people feared dead or missing while trying to cross from North Africa to Italy since the beginning of 2017 has reached over 1,300 people, according to the UN’s official report.
