Protests, violence & vandalism on streets of Paris after 1st round of presidential election

People took to the streets of Paris on Sunday to protest following the 1st round of France’s presidential election, held April 23. Initially, demonstrators waved flags, chanted slogans, and beat on drums, but things turned violent when protesters used smoke bombs and smoke flares and started setting vehicles near Stalingrad metro station on fire as part of a demonstration called “Night of the Barricades.”
