Russian scuba-divers went on an underwater expedition to the submerged 17th-century Musin-Pushkin mansion located at the bottom of the Rybinsk Reservoir in Yaroslavl Region, 250 kilometers northeast of Moscow. A team of divers explored the ruins of the mansion as well as other architectural remains in a bid to develop a 3D model of the structures. The expedition began in late February and will continue until this autumn.
The mansion was destroyed and completely disappeared underwater in 1941 during the construction of the Rybinsk Reservoir, which was considered the largest man-made body of water on Earth at the time.
