Medical workers from Greek public hospitals protested against austerity measures in the public sector by burning their uniforms outside the Health Ministry in Athens on Thursday. The march was stopped by the security forces as the demonstrators tried to advance to the official seat of the Greek prime minister, the Maximos Mansion. Several other rallies took place in Athens on the same day, with firefighters, social security and national insurance workers protesting on the streets, according to Greek media reports.
