The Rosenmontag Parade got underway on Monday in Cologne and Dusseldorf, with dozens of floats exhibiting larger-than-life sarcastic effigies of politicians. Some 72 floats took part in the Dusseldorf's event drawing more than 5,000 people. Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro seemed to be the only politician not parodied during the parade in Cologne, as he was commemorated by participants carrying a coffin with his name inscribed on it.
