Refugees living in the ‘Softex’ camp on the outskirts of Thessaloniki in Greece were filmed suffering freezing temperatures as low as -16C (3.2F) as the region was hit by heavy snowfall on Tuesday. The camp apparently wasn’t ready for such harsh weather conditions; most of the tents and prefabricated houses don't have electricity and running water, as the pipes are frozen. Humanitarian organizations have called for people to be transferred to warmer areas like the Aegean islands, to the mainland or other European countries.
