Protest for Mapuche leader turns violent in Santiago, Chile

Clashes erupted in Santiago, Chile, on Monday, as hundreds of members of the Mapuche indigenous group and their supporters took to the streets of the capital to protest against the detention of their spiritual leader, Francisca Linconao. Police deployed water cannons and used tear gas to disperse the crowd. At least five people were detained and four policemen were injured during the demonstration.
