Scuffles broke out in front of Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi's residence in Rome on Monday after anti-government activists converged on the building, calling for Renzi to step down following the 'No' vote in the referendum on whether the country's constitution should be changed and the parliament reformed. The Italian leader was inside the palace at the time of the protest, holding a cabinet meeting, after which he met President Sergio Mattarella to discuss the terms of his resignation. Renzi announced that he would step down on Sunday evening.
