More than 100 opposition members of the Indian parliament joined massive protests in New Delhi on Wednesday, over the government’s decision to take high denomination notes out of circulation. Chanting protesters can be seen carrying flags of one of the main opposition parties, the Indian National Congress, as well as signs reading “Save the poor people” and “Stop the persecution of common people.” The demonstrations come after Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided earlier this month to remove 500 and 1,000 notes from circulation because of tax evasion and corruption in India.
