Some 100,000 protesters marched through Buenos Aires on Friday to demand the adoption of a bill declaring a social emergency in Argentina that addresses rising poverty in the country. The measure aims to create a million jobs and raise child welfare payments by 15 percent. The bill was approved by Argentina’s upper house of parliament, the Senate, earlier this week. If it meets support in the lower house, it would help ease some of the austerity measures put in place by President Macri.
