Protesters lit fires on the streets and set vehicles ablaze, throwing flares and Molotov cocktails on the streets of Bastia, Corsica, on Saturday, protesting against conviction of three fellow nationalists by a Parisian court. The unrest broke out after riot polcie confronted a protest arranged by Corsican student unions which called for Amnesty International to veto the sentences. This resulted in clashes between masked protesters and police. The three youths, Battini, Tomasini and Verdi, were sentenced by a Parisian court to five to eight years in prison, for a bomb attack in the French commune of Corte in August, 2012.
