Scientists have excavated a huge meteorite in Gancedo, Argentina, in an area known as ‘Campo del Cielo’ (Field of Heaven). The area is littered with iron meteorites that fell around 4,000 years ago. This one weighs 30 tonnes and local media hope it will be confirmed as the second largest in the world. The biggest meteorite weighs around 60 tonnes and is located in southern Africa.
