Dozens gather near burned gas station after violent protests in Milwaukee

People gathered near a burned petrol station in Milwaukee on Sunday, following violent protests that erupted in the city overnight after a man was fatally shot by police on Saturday afternoon.

According to the police, the 23-year-old victim fled from a car after being stopped in traffic. During the pursuit, the man, who was reportedly armed with a semiautomatic handgun, was shot in the chest and arm by a police officer and died at the scene. Hours after the incident, crowds flooded onto the streets of Wisconsin's main city to protest the killing. A police car, gas station, bank and many shops were set alight. A police officer was hospitalized and three people arrested following the unrest.
