Dozens of mourners gathered in front of the National Assembly in the Serbian capital, Belgrade, on Monday to commemorate the victims of the 1995 Srebrenica massacre. People lit candles and laid out signs showing the alleged number of victims, 8,372. Protesters denying civilian casualties during the attack have also gathered in the Serbian capital. Bosnian Serb forces are accused of killing about 8,000 Muslim boys and men after invading Srebrenica on July 11, 1995. The massacre remains an international controversy. While the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) has characterized the event as genocide, a number of nations disagree with the definition.
